Revenue Cycle Optimization Specialist
The Revenue Cycle Optimization specialist plays a pivotal role in scaling growth into the FQHC market by leading projects that assess and improve workflows, ensuring efficiency and compliance while enhancing the client experience. This position involves identifying inefficiencies, collaborating with cross-functional teams and designing solutions that contribute to the organization's success. The person in this role must be analytical and possess excellent communication and project management skills.
Supervisor: The Revenue Cycle Optimization Specialist reports to the Continuous Improvement Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of current revenue cycle and billing workflows within Synergy Billing and client organizations.
- Identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for optimization.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand current-state processes through interviews, surveys, and observations, gathering both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, measure process performance, and support data-driven recommendations.
- Develop detailed reports with actionable insights to improve efficiency, accuracy, and overall revenue cycle effectiveness.
- Partner with the Continuous Improvement team to prioritize, implement, and monitor process changes.
- Create training materials and provide hands-on support to teams impacted by workflow changes.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks to evaluate the impact of process improvements.
- Reassess workflows regularly to ensure continued alignment with organizational goals and sustained process optimization.
Experience/Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle management or healthcare consulting.
- Familiarity with medical billing codes, payer guidelines and revenue cycle processes.
- Experience with health information technology systems.
- Demonstrated success in process improvement or workflow optimization, preferably within Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) or similar healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of process mapping and improvement methodologies (ex: Lean Six Sigma)
- Highly developed sense of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to convey complex findings and make technical recommendations into actionable steps for diverse audiences.
Education: High school diploma required, college degree in a related field preferred.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CPCR), or Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt RHIT, preferred.
Environmental/Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Occasional over time may be required and/or hours may be shortened as business needs dictate.
Physical Demands: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity needed for using a calculator and computer keyboard.
