Evolve To Meet The Demands Of An Ever-Changing World
Billing Boot Camp Utah

Synergy Billing was founded by Jayson Meyer in 2006 to support Federally Qualified Health Centers by providing revenue cycle management and professional services to help them serve more patients. The FQHC mission became Synergy Billing’s mission.

Initially, Jayson developed training for his team members to teach them the unique requirements of FQHC billing. As time went on, Synergy Billing became sought after as an externship site for all of the community’s colleges. CareerSource, the local workforce training board, contracted with Synergy Billing to teach medical billing and coding to students with no health care experience.

And all along, Synergy Billing has worked with clients to provide training for their staff members to help prevent denials, a part of our service to them. That led to requests from Primary Care Associations to provide training for their member CHCs.

Synergy Billing currently offers a variety of training and education programs that have been specifically developed for FQHCs. Some are also available remotely. These include:

Keynote Speech

How can we take apparent failure and turn that into forward momentum?  In “Failing Forward,” Jayson Meyer describes his own journey and offers attendees strategies for turning failure around.  Audiences will walk away filled with inspiration and actionable pathways to reignite their motivation.

Billing Bootcamp
Most billing staff arrive at your center with no specific FQHC billing experience. This two-day intensive program is typically sponsored by a Primary Care Associations and attended by Billing Managers and staff.  Attendees take both pre- and post-tests to assess their learning experience and we consistently see improvements ranging from 10 to 40 points for both seasoned and newer billing professionals. Attendees will complete the program understanding the entire revenue cycle, provider credentialing and enrollment, front desk challenges (including insurance verification and eligibility), practice management systems, UDS reports, coding for FQHCs (including modifiers), different types of claim forms, claims transmission, understanding the clearinghouse, denial prevention, managing aging  accounts, patient accounts, and reporting and analytics. While this program is geared to those who work in billing roles every day, several CFOs have also found it to be valuable.

Front Desk Training

Many billing staff in our boot camps requested training specifically for front desk staff.  Since 40% of billing rejections and denials are caused by “front desk errors,” many centers and PCAs have found this one-day course to be very valuable. As turnover in these positions continues to accelerate, this training has become even more vital.  Attendees will learn about verifying coverage and eligibility, prior authorization, HIPAA, sliding fees, customer service, and best practices. They will practice scripts for collecting patient funds, and receive a check list of items that need to be completed. They will also learn how their role at the front desk fits into the revenue cycle and affects revenue for the entire center.

Coding For Community Health Centers

Medical coding for FQHCs is different from a typical outpatient medical practice.  Not every center has a Certified Professional Coder on staff and new coding personnel don’t know the complexities of FQHC coding. Again, improper coding can negatively impact revenue. This half-day program provides an in-depth review that is focused on the anomalies of FQHC coding.
